Jun’s Yellow Coat: a mini doc
March 13, 2008
We were assigned to film a documentary that was roughly one minute in length. I know it seems short, but you’d be surprised at how much you can fit in that time. The goal of the project was to create a story using the interviews we did. My doc is all about my friend, Jun Li and a very bright yellow coat she owns. If you go to Carleton, you know who I’m talking about.
Word Art: a photo essay
March 13, 2008
The assignment for this was to create a narrative photo essay. After seeing the film, Word Play, I felt inspired by the people who dedicated themselves to playing competitive Scrabble. When I heard that there would be a tournament in Minneapolis the weekend we were supposed to be working on our photo essay, I thought it would be a great topic. What I found, though, wasn’t exactly the odd ball characters I had expected. Take a look: Word Art
Where I Live: a photo project
March 12, 2008
The task for this assignment was to focus on composition while we took photographs to fit the theme of ‘where I live.’ I spent the first couple of days photographing close-ups of objects in my room and around campus. However, I didn’t really like how this photos were turning out. When I woke up one morning, I noticed that dew was condensing on my dorm room window. The screen and the dew created an interesting effect and I decided to focus my project on the view through my window. Take a look: Where I Live
